Which Barnsley bin should I put out?

Match the date and bin colour in your property’s calendar. Barnsley’s current guidance puts food waste in the grey bin; it must not go in the green garden-waste bin.

Put the correct bin at the kerbside or your agreed collection point before 6am, with its lid closed and handles facing the road. Do not overfill it.

Blue bin
Dry paper and cardboard. Keep wet cardboard, food-stained packaging and liquid cartons out.
Brown bin
Mixed recycling, including glass bottles and jars, tins, cans, plastic bottles, pots, tubs, trays and liquid cartons. Rinse food containers; remove film lids.
Green bin
Garden waste such as grass, leaves, flowers and hedge clippings. Collections run from March to November; food waste is not accepted.
Grey bin
General household rubbish, including food waste and nappies. Batteries, vapes and electrical items must not go in this bin.

Missed bin?

Wait until after 2.30pm on collection day, then check the council’s current disruption list. If your street is listed, follow its instructions and leave your bin out; you do not need to report it again. If your street is not listed, or just your bin was missed, you can report it online. The council says it cannot return for individual missed bins and will empty them on the next scheduled collection day. Check that you put the correct bin out on time, with its lid closed and no contamination or damage, before using the report form.
