Barnsley Council is running a series of Big Summer Markets across the borough this summer, offering free family entertainment, live music and local traders at four venues.
The markets will take place on the following dates and locations:
- Saturday 25 July – Penistone Market, with live music from Penistone Ladies' Choir at 10am and 10.45am
- Saturday 1 August – Wombwell Market (in conjunction with Wombwell Business Committee)
- Saturday 8 August – Horse and Groom Square, Goldthorpe
- Saturday 15 August – Hoyland Market (alongside the regular Saturday market)
Activities and entertainment
All visitors can take part in a "stall bingo" game while exploring the traders and enter a competition to win a Barnsley Gift Card. At the Penistone and Hoyland events, there will be free gifts for visitors, children's colouring activities, a hula hoop competition and face painting.
What traders will offer
A range of traders will attend, selling hot sauces, homemade cakes, original artwork, upcycled homewares, secondhand items, stylish stationery and pampering products.
For regular updates, follow the Barnsley and Districts Markets Facebook page. Traders interested in booking a stall should email placemanagement@barnsley.gov.uk. More information about monthly themed, seasonal and traditional weekly markets is available on the Barnsley Markets webpage.
