Barnsley town centre is hosting a programme of family activities and events throughout August, with free attractions, markets and entertainment designed to keep children occupied during the school holidays.
Free Activities at The Alhambra
The Alhambra is offering 14 days of free family activities from 3 to 16 August. Children can create colourful summer and sea creature collages using eco-friendly recycled materials with no booking required.
Summer on the Square
Summer on the Square returns to The Glass Works from 7 to 30 August with classic attractions including a traditional Helter Skelter, Bungee Trampoline and a 9-hole Crazy Golf course. Face painting will be available every Friday, Saturday and Sunday throughout the event.
Milk from the Hills will operate a pop-up shake bar serving fresh milkshakes and weekly special flavours during Summer on the Square.
Markets and Special Events
The Young Traders Market takes place on Friday 8 August on The Glass Works Square, showcasing products and businesses run by young entrepreneurs.
The Artisan Market returns on Friday 15 and Saturday 16 August, featuring independent traders, street food, handmade gifts and sweet treats.
Barnsley's Great Family Festival is scheduled for Saturday 22 August, offering free activities and entertainment for children and young people of all ages.
