Communities across Barnsley will gather in November 2026 for remembrance services to pay tribute to those who have lost their lives in war. The events give residents the chance to reflect, pay respects, and show support for armed forces, veterans and their families.

Main Barnsley Remembrance Sunday

The annual civic Remembrance Sunday service takes place on Sunday 8 November at 11am outside Barnsley Town Hall, Church Street, Barnsley, S70 2TA. The service includes a parade and wreath-laying. Residents should arrive from 10.30am.

Those who wish to lay a wreath during the service are asked to register with the Mayor's Office by Wednesday 4 November. Registration can be completed by emailing mayorsoffice@barnsley.gov.uk, calling 01226 773804, or visiting Town Hall reception with a registration form. Residents who do not register will have an opportunity to lay wreaths at the end of the service.

Cllr Mark Langridge, Barnsley's Armed Forces champion, added: "Veterans, families and the Armed Forces community are always humbled and comforted by the support shown by our residents for Remembrance commemorations in Barnsley. Attending one of our events is a way to show your respect and thanks for those who have served for their courage and commitment."
