Savers has agreed to move to a new ground-floor location at the Alhambra Shopping Centre in Barnsley, relocating from its current first-floor unit in the former Bodycare space.
The health and beauty retailer, part of the AS Watson Group which operates over 500 Savers stores across the UK and Ireland, will occupy a more visible position on the ground floor. The move reinforces the company's long-term commitment to Barnsley.
Other retailers renew leases
The announcement comes alongside lease renewals from four national retailers. EE, Poundstretcher, The Works and Iceland have all signed new agreements to remain at the centre.
Part of wider transformation
Savers' relocation forms part of the Alhambra's ongoing transformation, including the 'Health on the High Street' development. This project is converting the first floor of the shopping centre into a health and wellbeing hub, bringing more convenient healthcare services to residents.
Matt O'Neill, Executive Director for Place at Barnsley Council, said the retailer commitments demonstrate confidence in the centre's future. "Savers' relocation to a prominent new ground floor unit is particularly welcome and will help strengthen the day-to-day retail offer for visitors," he said.
Clare Jennings, Savers' Property Director, said: "The move marks an exciting next chapter for Savers in Barnsley, giving us a more prominent location within the centre. Our team is committed to offering customers a wide range of health, beauty, and household products at great prices."
