John Roberts of the Labour Party has been elected to represent Penistone East ward on Barnsley Council following a by-election held on Thursday 20 August.
The by-election was called after a former council member resigned. Of the 8,674 eligible voters in Penistone East ward, 3,346 cast their votes, representing a turnout of 38.58%. Seven ballot papers were rejected.
