Barnsley Council has launched a borough-wide survey asking residents to help shape the future of the area through a new long-term vision called Barnsley 2040.
The survey opened on Monday 24 August and will remain open until Sunday 20 December. Residents are invited to share their aspirations, what they value about Barnsley today, and what they would like to see in the future.
Building on Previous Success
The new initiative builds on Barnsley 2030, which has guided the borough's direction over the last decade. Changes delivered as a result of that programme include health services available at the Alhambra and The Glass Works, and free bus travel for under 18s.
Councillor William Brown, Co-Chair of the Barnsley 2030 Board and Leader of Barnsley Council, said the feedback from residents would help identify priorities and opportunities. "Your ideas and ambitions will help us understand what matters most, where the biggest opportunities are and how we can build on Barnsley's strengths," he said.
Dawn Lawson, Co-chair of the Barnsley 2030 Board and Deputy Chief Executive and Executive Director of Strategy, Inclusion and Change for South West Yorkshire Partnership Teaching NHS Foundation Trust, added that it was important to hear from all local communities so everyone's voice was reflected in the borough's future ambitions.
How to Take Part
Residents can complete the survey online or collect a paper copy at a local library or Family Hub.
