Barnsley Market will host the NMTF's Yorkshire and Humber Young Trader Market Regional Final on Saturday 1 August 2026 — the second consecutive year the regional event has been held in the town centre.
The event takes place at The Glass Works Square from 10am to 4pm, with awards presented at noon. It coincides with Yorkshire Day and is sponsored by Yorkshire Rose Holidays.
About the Young Traders Campaign
The Young Traders Market Campaign is a nationwide initiative that supports young entrepreneurs in establishing themselves in the retail sector using markets as a foundation for their business.
Young traders from across Yorkshire and Humber compete in local heats for the chance to reach the Regional Final. Winners will go on to represent Yorkshire and Humber at the National Final in Stratford-upon-Avon at the end of August.
Who is Judging
The judges are Katie Slatter (a previous Young Trader winner), Barnsley's Young Mayor Tamsin Brooke, David Mills from Yorkshire Rose Holidays, and Leonie Briggs, Founder of Amazelabs. Live music will be provided throughout the day.
Recognition for Barnsley Market
The decision to host the Regional Final in Barnsley follows the Market's recent win as Best Large Indoor Market at the NABMA Great British Market Awards 2026, and the success of last year's event.
