Barnsley Council's Cabinet will consider an updated Risk Management Policy and Framework at a meeting on Wednesday 7 October.
The updated documents outline how the council identifies, assesses and manages risks. The council says this approach helps protect services, safeguard public money and support effective decision-making across the organisation.
Why the policy was updated
The framework is reviewed every two years to ensure it remains effective, reflects best practice and responds to the challenges and opportunities facing local government.
Councillor Martin Bancroft, Cabinet Spokesperson for Core Services, said: "Residents expect us to spend public money wisely and keep services running well. Managing risk is an important part of that."
"Spotting potential problems early gives us more time to act. It helps reduce disruption, protect services and make better decisions. This updated Policy and Framework builds on the strong arrangements already in place and helps make sure risks are managed consistently across the council."
What the updated framework includes
The council states the updated framework encourages innovation and continuous improvement, helping ensure the organisation remains resilient and prepared for future challenges.
The full policy and framework documents are available in the Cabinet papers.
