Barnsley Council has published its latest Corporate Performance Report covering April to June, highlighting achievements across adult social care, children's services, libraries, employment and heritage attractions.

Adult Social Care Independence

More residents using Adult Social Care services are completing reablement without needing ongoing support. Admissions for those aged 65 and over remain well below target at 115 per 100,000 population, against a target of 200. Admissions for adults aged 18-64 also remain below target.

Looked-After Children

More looked-after children are staying closer to Barnsley, with 86.5% now placed within 20 miles of their home exceeding the 85% target. This helps children maintain family, education and community connections.

Library and Museum Visits

Libraries recorded more than 184,000 digital and physical visits, surpassing the target of 172,400. Museums and outdoor heritage sites across Barnsley received more than 640,000 visits in Quarter 1, significantly exceeding the target of 500,000.

Employment Growth

Private sector employment continues to grow strongly, with 390 new jobs created, significantly exceeding the target of 168.

Councillor Martin Bancroft, Cabinet Spokesperson for Core Services, said: "I'm pleased to see the positive impact our services are having across Barnsley, particularly in helping more people stay independent and live well at home for longer."
